Seventy-five-year-old Cedar Walton is one of the giants of contemporary jazz piano. From his early work with J.J. Johnson, Art Farmer and John Coltrane (the seminal “Giant Steps”), Walton joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and orgthen went on to front his own groups as both pianist and composer. He is one of the most recorded jazz artists and is known for his consummate pianism and striking musical ideas.
