Artist Bio
1991 Gilmore Artist David Owen Norris is Professor of Musical Performance at the University of Southampton, Visiting Professor of Fortepiano at the Royal College of Music, Honorary Fellow of Keble College, Oxford, Educational Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Organists. Recent projects include his Haydn adaptation, A New Creation, a new radio-opera Pugwash Walks the Plank, performances of his oratorio Prayerbook, and another radio-opera, The Body in the Ballroom, to name a few. His recordings of Elgar’s Falstaff in Karg-Elert’s piano transcription, of the Pomp & Circumstance Marches in his own transcriptions, and of Muriel Herbert songs with James Gilchrist, were released in spring 2009.
