Artist Bio
With his bluesy, soulful voice and unique piano playing, singer, songwriter, and musician Matt Giraud has captured the attention of music fans across the country. Originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan, he studied jazz at Western Michigan University and received many accolades, including
Downbeat Magazine's Award for Outstanding Performance by an Artist.
As a contestant on the eighth season of
American Idol, Giraud received the first ever “judge's save,” and moved on to the finals. His
Idol run ended with Simon Cowell raving about his rendition of “My Funny Valentine.” After the elimination, Matt performed in the
American Idol Live Tour from July to September 2009.

Idol Tour appearances include a performance in Napa Valley at the request of
American Idol creator Simon Fuller and Priscilla Presley for The Dream Foundation and two sold-out solo concerts. Giraud also headlined and helped raise millions for a charity event in Scottsdale, Arizona.
